Some days it all just catches up Running around and running out of luck You get bogged down but you get back up You ain't got time to even notice Just when you've got it figured out The tide turns leaving you in doubt There ain't no time to get worked up about What you've got no hand in changin' Is there something I can do for you To make you feel right at home if there's one thing I could say to you To help you to leave your troubles by the door Summer days underneath the sun People laughing and having fun You ain't too old and you ain't too young To get on down you've got to be willin' (Willin'!) Is there something I can do for you To make you feel right at home if there's one thing I could say to you To help you to leave your troubles by the door Is there something I can do for you To make you feel right at home if there's one thing I could say to you To help you to leave your troubles by the door To help you to leave your troubles by the door

I swear I always find myself Breaking off a piece for someone else And by the time I get home I feel So alone I wish there was something left To fill this hole burning in my chest Lord please let me learn from my mistakes Whenever I meet a girl I wanna give her the whole wide world But I end up with nothing but Tears and sorry I swear it's the last time I should be so blind Now I know just what I have to do. Don't give all your love away Save just a little for that rainy day You've got to keep yourself in mind Always look out from behind Because you just don't know what's in store For you My father always told me You've got to help yourself you see People got problems of their own And now I know just what he meant You'll end up badly bent You can't save a drowning man If you can't swim Don't give all your love away Save just a little for that rainy day You've got to keep yourself in mind Always look out from behind Because you just don't know what's in store For you Don't give all your love away Save just a little for that rainy day You've got to keep yourself in mind Always look out from behind Because you just don't know what's in store For you (Don't give all your love away) For you (Don't give all your love away) Ahh you just don't know (Don't give all your love away) You just don't know (Don't give all your love away) You just don't know

I think it's time for a change Time to rearrange my mind I think it's time that I start Listening to my own heart I think it's time Time for thinkin' ahead No more layin' round in bed Time to build a new start No more hidin' in the dark Gonna do what's best for me No more wait around and see Gonna find a little fun Get out and feel the sun I think it's time No more stops and reservations No more lonely tears No more thoughts of separation No more worried fears No more hopes of apparition For something to appear No more I think it's time for a change Time to rearrange my mind I think it's time that I start Listening to my own heart I think it's time

about

After years of drumming for bands such as Pacific Range and Glenn Annie, Nate Ward found himself in a new predicament… bored. With tours canceled and a large void to fill, Nate began writing about his changing world.
Slowly but surely this led to a sizable collection of songs. With help from his old bandmates Stewart Forgey and Cameron Wehrle (Pacific Range), and friends Derek Doszkocs, (The Charities), Clay Finch (Mapache), and Katie Skene, Nate, set out to make his debut, Truth Takes Time.
Recorded at Dan Horne’s (Cass McCombs + Circles Around the Sun) Universal Hair Farm Studios in Studio City, the album has a warm and vintage feel. It is acoustically driven with upright piano and acoustic guitar woven throughout.
The music sounds oddly familiar, yet new. Nate draws inspiration from old-timey folk singers like Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan, and other artists such as The Band, George Harrison, and Tom Petty. Truth Takes Time fits right into the bustling Southern California Americana scene while echoing sentiments of 1960’s Laurel Canyon.
These songs capture the morose mood of the lockdown era with themes of estrangement, heartbreak, and letting go. However, there are glimpses of hope. Like a winter sunset over the coast, things come into clear view on Truth Takes Time with fluorescent color, even if just for a passing moment. Returning to the unknown and awaiting a brand new day.
